1959 Austrian Standard

The car is a March 1959 Standard Beetle delivered new to Austria through Porsche Salzburg to a ministry în Vienna. It was then shipped to a border town with Czechoslovakia where it was used as service car at the height of the cold war. It is pretty much all original, never messed with and with a wonderful patina. Beeing a Austrian STD it got the partial chrome package since new. Also leatherette seats were ordered. Front beam is original, Gearbox is original, and engine is a factory replacement from 1976 ( but case matched/built 3/59). Brakes were updated to hydraulic 50 years ago. 2 owners since then, I beeing the second. The car resides now in Romania where it is about to be registered.
